Is Your Tree Is Nearing The End Of Its Lifespan?

Posted on: 4 January 2018

Letting go of a tree on your property can be a tough decision to make. Moreso, if you grew it from a sapling and had nurtured it into the large tree that it has eventually become. Trees do contribute to the appeal of your yard,  but in some cases having them could be posing the risk of more harm than good. Nevertheless, some homeowners may not be aware that their tree has become a potential hazard, as they do not know what symptoms they should be on the lookout for. If you have one or multiple trees on your property, here are some signs indicating that tree removal services would be imperative, as the plant has reached the end of its lifespan.

The tree has developed a conscious lean

Trees may not grow strictly straight, but this does not mean you should ignore any signs of leaning. When a tree starts to lean severely to one side, it could indicate that it is not receiving an adequate amount of sunshine. Therefore, it tries to compensate for this my extending toward one direction. The problem with this, though, is that the stability of the tree can become compromised and it could end up falling over spontaneously. Not to mention that as the tree continues to lean to one side, it could begin to exert pressure on structures such as your primary residence, the fence, and electricity poles. If you notice that the leaning is becoming progressively worse, it is best to call an arborist for tree removal.

The tree is developing V-shaped trunk-joints

Multiple trunks on one tree are not surprising. In fact, these unique designs can add a visual element to your yard. What you need to be concerned about is the shape of the junction between the trunks. When the joint is shaped in a U, this is normal, and it indicates that the tree is stable. On the other hand, when the trunks start to form a V-shape, you should get in touch with an arborist. V-shaped trunk-joints are a sign that there is increased tension between the two trunks. If this tightness does not ease, the tree will become increasingly unstable and could end up falling over. It would be best to get ahead of this by enlisting tree removal services.

The tree is disease riddled

Tree diseases can manifest in a broad range of ways since they are caused by a vast assortment of pathogens. Some of the symptoms of a disease-riddled tree including discoloured leaves, splotched on the tree trunk, missing patched of tree bark, the development of bumps and so on. Although some disease can be eliminated through routine pruning, an extensive infection would require tree removal.
